How WMFP Got its Name
![]() |
Welcome to the 13th season of the Football
Pool. What started as NFL Pool 1998 has blossomed into
what is now WMFP 2010. Much has changed since the first
season, including a membership that has more than tripled, a headquarters that has moved from
Cincinnati to Michigan to Las Vegas and back to Michigan, and sadly and most
significantly, the loss of one of its most enthusiastic and vocal members, Robert
"Worm" Whitman in 2003. The following year saw the operation change its
name to The Worm Memorial Football Pool as a tribute to the
player everyone loved to beat and to the man everyone loved. Worm was a victim of cancer. Other members of the WMFP family have also fought battles with cancer. Some have won, some have not. Some are still fighting. We have seen a generous outpouring of support from an amazing group that makes up the WMFP Community, which is undoubtedly what distinguishes this annual contest from the standard office pools. Please follow the link to the 2010 Rules Page to learn how to play The Big Game and King of the Hill. Remember, FUN and LAUGHTER were what defined our beloved Worm, so if you are not into either of these things, this pool is not for you. Welcome to WMFP Version 13.0 - I hope you have fun and laugh a lot. |
