WMFP 2010 Official Rules Page

WMFP is all about The Big Game. This is the original football pool that started in 1997 and offers the most excitement, biggest challenge, and greatest payout. This is the game you want to join if you want to play in the big leagues. WMFP also offers a survivor contest called King of the Hill. You do not have to play in The Big Game in order to compete in KOH, but you will miss out on a season of heart-skipping anticipation every Sunday afternoon.
The cost to play in WMFP 2010 is $125 for The Big Game and $30 for King of the Hill. The entry fee is $150 if you participate in both contests.
WMFP accepts payment by check and cash only. Please make checks payable to Patty Nulsen and mail to 6430 Old Barn Ct. Madeira, OH 45243.
The Big Game ($125)
Summary: Make one pick each week against the point spread. If your team covers the spread, you win. The player who accumulates the most wins through the NFL regular season earns first place and a lot of money.
The deadline to submit picks is
kickoff of the first weekend game. Early weekday games will not be available to select. Only games played on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be included on the picksheet. The reason for this is to avoid deadline conflicts with the automated system.NEW CONTEST SCORING: If your team beats the spread, you earn two points. If your team ties the spread, you earn one point. If your team loses to the spread, you earn zero points.

King of the Hill
($30)
Summary: Pick one team each week to win straight up (no point spread to cover.) If you pick a team that wins, you advance and live to play another week. Once you pick a team that loses, you are eliminated from the contest. The catch is: you can't pick the same team more than once all season.
If your selection wins, you survive and move on to the next week. If your selection ties or loses, you are eliminated from the competition.
IMPORTANT: You may select each team one time ONLY!! For example: You choose New England to defeat Cleveland in week 1. You are prohibited from selecting New England again the remainder of the season.
Bowhead Bucks
($25)NOTE: Traditionally, this contest (which has seen multiple name changes) is run as a fund raiser for a chosen member of WMFP who is battling illness and could benefit from a modest donation. Half of the prize money is automatically donated to the cause. There has been no cause identified for 2010 as of yet, which is actually tremendous news. However, the WMFP may learn of a worthy cause as the season progresses and will keep all Bowhead Bucks members informed. If no one comes forward, all prize monies will be paid out to members.
Summary: Pick all of the games each week to win straight up (no point spread to cover.) You must assign a confidence factor to each game (i.e. rank your picks) with 1 point going to the team you are least certain will win, and the highest point total assigned to the team you are SURE is going to win.
You will assign a point value to each pick, and if that pick wins, you will earn those points. For example, if there are 16 games being played in a given week, you will have to pick all 16 games, and assign a confidence factor of 1-16 to each game, and you MUST use each number one time. You will assign 16 points to the team you are most confident will win, and work your way down until you reach 1 point assigned to the team you are least confident will win. For every winner you pick correctly, you will earn points equal to the confidence factor you have assigned. So if your most confident pick wins in that example, you would earn 16 points for that victory.
